The Zoo Keeper and the Monkey

A smart monkey escapes from the zoo. The zookeeper finds him in a tree. After giving up to make the monkey down, the guard points the shotgun with a tranquilizer dart in the direction of the monkey and shoots. The monkey, wishing to escape the dart, drops the branch and falls as soon as the dart comes out of the rifle. Show that the dart always strikes the monkey, whatever the speed of the dart as it exits the gun's mouth (as long as it is enough for the dart to reach the monkey before it reaches the ground).
